Hello friends, it's me, the Captain. Or, let's say, "a" Captain. This life has taken many things away from me but I will always have that. Mind you, I don't always bring this up. It is irrelevant in most social contexts. Every now and then someone will address me in this way, taking me aback (and back). I try, like my colleagues at this site, to live in the present.
And yet: here is a departure from a year ago, posting just now, so it appears I am not doing such a good job. Apologies. It is hard work, my sinecure, my self-repair, and...other tasks. Anyway, this program was, I think, a transition out of an "earthy" phase I went through last fall. Every now and then I must remind myself, it seems, of my proper element. The goal is "pure ego life," whatever the Mattson 2 say.

[GUEST POST]
Greetings, friends, Captain Halcyon checking in. It is now summer, the prime season, in my reckoning. Interminable daytime, nights without relief, inescapable drones--that's what it's all about. This "recurring" program, such as it is, would be nothing without it.
I have been working on "branding," and am wondering how this catchphrase strikes you: "music for breathing deeply and pretending the bad things aren't happening." The truth, I have always believed, is what people want to hear. Anyway, I am open to other suggestions.
This sound file is an autumnal program, literally; it seems the bad things were happening, as I seem to have had World War I on the brain. Mud and dead leaves will do that to me. There are some nice passages in here, though, and I'm not even talking about the "aesthetic beauty of death," whatever that might be.

Halcyon here. The last time out, I was in quite a mood. This show brings nothing but [hic] happy memories.
We are currently experiencing fall-like weather, perfect for flying, but alas I do not have the time. I thought I would post this to remind you that I still exist. I do.
Kid Catharsis, who graciously allows me to post here, informs me that Heidi Berry is a "legend" of some sort. I don't doubt it! Nice tune.
I see from the playlist that I was more or less living in the past on this outing. That's fine; I don't have the same problems with that as others do.

Halcyon reporting. Days are warmer and longer, and skies are clearer; it was for these climes that we created this program. This particular episode, however, aired when looming equinox forced me into afternoon duty.
Initially I tried posting this on soundclod, but apparently Siinaii's people thought a bit-starved .mp3 of their tune threatened copyright. When people are 90 years old, wondering why it didn't work out for them and their music, why people ultimately never heard of them or didn't care, I hope they have some nice fables to tell themselves. I mean that. Stories are great fun.
Thank goodness this program is a "mere" pop-up; I'd hate to feel like anything about it "had" to happen.

Halcyon, checking in, as I have been summoned. I must have been feeling weak when this program happened, because I caved in to the demands of the schedule. Clearly, my mind was on the sea, and why not? There is no poetry in lakes or creeks.
To address the present: it seems as though my services are no longer required at WRFI, which is probably to our mutual benefit. There will be one more program, for certain, and then after that, who knows? From time to time I will gradually complete the archive with posts like this one, but for now this is an actual departure. Find me on Naked Island, perhaps?

Halcyon here, still chronicling the summer. I see that six weeks had passed between my previous flight and this one. It is reassuring that I refused to conform to the schedule I was assigned. No one can miss me if I don't go away.
It looks like I borrowed some of Kid Catharsis's records for this particular program. I see a lot of things on this playlist that I had been meaning to spin, at some point, but did not get to until this particular departure. "Liquid Light Forms," indeed. They are in my line of vision all the time.

Halcyon here. What a crazy six months it has been. I have been doing radio all too often, and too regularly. I should be singing as the birds do, but these "volunteer" situations have a way of roping you in.
Anyway, this program was the first time I had guests in the cockpit proper. They seemed to enjoy themselves. For my part, I improvised more than perhaps I should have, and that always seems to mean living in the past.
I hope this warm-weather program brings cheer to you in this cold-weather season. May all your dreams be "of the inmost light!"

Halcyon here. Such drama and upheaval this life offers. After a 6-month absence, which happened for no reason at all, I returned to the WRFI airwaves, also for no reason. Alas, my "program" is no longer a "pop-up" but a regularly-scheduled excursion for the summer. I refuse to take off before sunrise or to land after sunset, so I can endure this regularity...for now.
I tried to post this on Soundcloud, but was thwarted by their auto-detection software and presented with a copyright claim. I was surprised and hurt by this, not to mention embarrassed that I had shared with you the work of some artist who actually cares about such things. No good can come from such a person, I am sure of it. However, I will follow the lead of Kid Catharsis, my host on this webpage, and upload a complete sonic "document," shameful inclusions and all.

I have a bad habit of overstaying my welcome. So I will be brief. This is another instance of my sneaking into the WRFI command center and engaging in an unauthorized missile launch. A missile of blissful sound.
Boxing Day is one of the year's best days. This one was lovely and cold. Before the cold leaves us, I wanted to share this with you. I give you my heart. Don't give it away, tomorrow or any other time.

Greetings, friends and lovers of Bombast. Captain Halcyon here, dropping in uninvited (by you) as is my wont. Back in December I sneaked into the WRFI cockpit to do this show. I figured on sharing it with you while it was still cold, and sure enough, it is.
A friend of Kid Catharsis, Jim Murphy, dropped by sometime during this broadcast--I think it was during "White Dusk"--and remarked, "this doesn't sound like dance music." Oh Jim! There are many ways to dance.
Anyway--apologies if you were expecting something from Kid Catharsis. He's taking a mental health day--I recommend these!--so I thought I would "fill the void."
